The Montessori Approach

Montessori education, founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, is built on the belief that every child is naturally curious, capable, and eager to learn.
At Character Montessori, our classrooms are warm, carefully prepared environments designed to inspire exploration. Children learn through purposeful, hands-on experiences while educators gently guide them toward independence, confidence, and a lifelong love for learning.

Character Education at Character Montessori

Grounded in the Montessori understanding that children learn best through real, meaningful experiences, character development is at the heart of who we are. Guided by the principles of Prof. Thomas Lickona, our programme cultivates respect, empathy, responsibility, and integrity through daily practice and authentic interactions.

With our founder Grace Yong’s series of 12 Character Stories (PG & N1), and 30 Character Readers (N2, K1, K2), in both the English and Chinese language, virtues are seamlessly woven into a typical Montessori day. Our approach empowers children to learn well and live well, flourishing in both heart and mind.

Baby Monties

Infants (From 2 to 18 months)

Our Baby Monties programme is thoughtfully designed for our youngest learners, aged 2 to 18 months. At this tender stage, every moment is a chance to explore, bond, and develop foundational skills. Guided by certified and experienced educarers, infants engage in gentle, sensory-rich activities that nurture early motor development, cognitive growth, and emotional security.
Through carefully curated Montessori-inspired experiences, babies learn to observe, explore textures, sounds, and movement, fostering curiosity and independence in a safe and loving environment. This programme also emphasizes parent-child bonding, ensuring a smooth transition into the wider school community as your little one begins their journey of joyful learning.

Mini Montes

PG & N1 (18 months to 3 years)

At Mini Montes, toddlers begin their journey of exploration, independence, and joyful learning. Designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years, this program focuses on nurturing curiosity and foundational skills in a warm, safe, and stimulating environment.

As children play, explore, and enjoy our engaging Character Stories for toddlers, in both the English and Chinese language, they start to make sense of everyday experiences, growing in language, problem-solving, and self-help skills, while also picking up gentle lessons about being kind and making good choices. Our gentle guidance encourages independence, confidence, and self-expression, while our Montessori-inspired environment allows little learners to explore, experiment, and discover the world around them.
At this stage, learning is hands-on and experiential. Toddlers engage in practical life experiences, sensory play, early numeracy, and language-rich activities that build the foundations for future learning. Each activity is purposefully designed to equipping children with the mindset and confidence to thrive in their learning journey.

The Power of Mixed-Age Learning

One of the hallmarks of Montessori education is the mixed-age classroom, children of different ages learning alongside one another in a setting that mirrors real life. This unique structure creates a dynamic, supportive community and offers lifelong developmental benefits.

Learning from Each Other

Younger children absorb skills and behaviours by observing older peers, while older children reinforce their own understanding by guiding and mentoring.

Growing in Confidence

Older students naturally step into leadership roles, cultivating empathy, patience, and responsibility.

Learning at Their Own Pace

Learning at Their Own Pace Every child progresses according to their individual readiness, rather than being held to a fixed age-based benchmark.

Building a Strong Community

Collaboration, not competition, defines the Montessori environment, nurturing respect, belonging, and kindness.
